PROTECT expert forum

Am 10. September 2021 findet eine internationale Online-Konferenz ("Expert Forum") im Rahmen des PROTECT Projekts zu der Frage "Can the Global Compact for Migration strengthen the International Protection Regime?" statt. Das Expertenforum wird organisiert von dem PROTECT-Team der JLU Gießen, dem die FGMM-Mitglieder Jürgen Bast und Janna Wessels sowie Pauline Endres de Oliveira angehören. Die Veranstaltung wird auf englisch durchgeführt.

The PROTECT Expert Forum 2021 explores how the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) affects the rights of refugees and other protection-seeking migrants. Key issues are the role of the GCM in providing alternative pathways to protection, its relevance for economic and social rights independent of a protection status, as well as its potential to strengthen therights of protection-seeking migrants in the context of immigration detention.The forum brings together a wide range of scholars and practitioners involved in the global governance of migration and the international protection regime.

PROTECT ist ein internationales Forschungsprojekt, das von einem Konsortium aus elf Partneruniversitäten in Europa, Kanada und Südafrika durchgeführt wird und unter der Leitung von Professor Hakan G. Sicakkan, Department of Comparative Politics, Universität Bergen, Norwegen, steht. PROTECT wird von der Europäischen Kommission in dem EU-Rahmenprogramm für Forschung und Innovation "Horizon 2020" finanziert.
